⛵ Missouri - Sailing Resources

Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks is one of the most active inland sailing scenes in the Midwest — a long, winding reservoir with dozens of coves, protected sailing areas, and a dedicated racing community. Other major lakes like Table Rock, Stockton, and Truman offer excellent sailing with varying wind and conditions. The Missouri and Mississippi Rivers near urban centers provide additional cruising and racing options. Busy summer weekends are the norm, especially at LOZ.

Marinas & Harbors

Lake of the Ozarks is the sailing epicenter with protected coves ideal for keelboats and a long main channel for racing. Table Rock and Stockton also support active sail fleets. Transients are widely available but book ahead for peak summer weekends and holidays. Dockwa is used at many facilities.

Lake of the Ozarks

Table Rock Lake

Stockton Lake & Other

Use Dockwa for many LOZ and Table Rock transients. The lakes are busy with powerboats on weekends; early morning and weekdays are best for pure sailing. Lake of the Ozarks has the strongest concentration of sail-friendly facilities and racing infrastructure.

Marine Surveyors

Use the official SAMS and NAMS directories filtered for Missouri. The Lake of the Ozarks has a good concentration of experienced surveyors due to the large boating population. St. Louis and Kansas City areas also have options for river and urban lake surveys.

Brokerages

Lake of the Ozarks has a very active used and new sailboat market. Many listings are for cruisers and racers well-suited to the lake's coves and channels. Brokers at the yacht clubs often have deep local knowledge.

Sailing Clubs & Resources

Lake of the Ozarks has the strongest organized sailing scene with regular racing and a mix of one-design and cruiser/racer fleets. Clubs like Ozark Sailing Club make it easy to participate even without your own boat. The other large lakes have more relaxed but active communities focused on cruising and occasional races.
